It's good business to break bread with the people who were in the room when value is created. 

This piece was supposed to come out last November, but I embarked on what was supposed to be a collaboration with this company. After creating the pieces for our collab, pieces that included this quote/piece, came time to set up a meeting to put it down on paper.  I asked them for a $1.95 per print. Essentially thats when the company left me on read.

So seeing actors, writers, ups truck drivers, all protesting for their worth/residuals, I knew this piece had to be in the world. As an artist I've been protected for the most part from these egregious norms because I'm lucky to have Black, for 12 years this month, our 12th Summer. Setting the price at $12 is my payback to you. I want everyone to be able to buy one and I want to see it everywhere. So buy 2 pieces and share with a friend.

The name "the payback" is also inspired by the James Brown song of the same name.
